Course Details

To renew your Traffic Controller accreditation in Queensland, you will be required to successfully complete the Department of Transport and Main Roads approved training program and demonstrate current competence as a traffic controller. Your Traffic Controller accreditation must be renewed every 3 years.

This 4hr class based course comprises of lectures and group discussion covering the following topics:

  • Legislative framework and compliance requirements
  • Risk management
  • Planning and preparing to control traffic
  • Traffic control operating procedures
  • Two way radio communications
  • Removing or covering signs when not controlling traffic
  • Reporting incidents
  • Worksite safety procedures

At the end of the course participants will be required to successfully complete a theory assessment.

How to apply basic First Aid and CPR techniques.

  • On successful completion participants receive a Statement of Attainment for RIIWHS205E Control Traffic with a Stop/Slow Bat. Evolution training and Safety will also provide the documentation required to apply for re-accreditation as a Traffic Controller with the Department of Transport and Main Roads.

What are the pre-requisites for this course?

Evolution Training Solutions apply the minimum requirements for Traffic Control Renewal training i.e. you must meet ALL of these criteria before we will issue a Statement of Attainment, which is the mandatory requirement for accreditation renewal by the Department of Transport and Main Roads.

  • Produce a current Traffic Controller Industry Authority Card or evidence of completion of RIIWHS205D unit of Competency
  • Written assessment on the theory component of the renewal course
  • Provide the following evidence of industry currency:
    1. Complete the Currency of Industry Practice document showing a minimum of 32 hours of traffic control currency over the last 12 months. Provide the following minimum evidence:
      • Work dockets, SWMS, risk assessment, participation or pre-start documentation
    2. A letter of verification from your employer confirming as part of your role you perform the duties of a Traffic Controller
